Race Updates
Registration Deadline Extended Through December 28!
Camping Options--Update:
Race headquarters for this year’s race will be set-up on the east side of the island, across from the park campground and bathhouse. There are 20 tent sites in the campground, each with a picnic table and charcoal grille. One tent is allowed per site, 6 people maximum per site. The entire campground has been set aside for use by our runners and their guests. Sites may now be reserved for one or two nights--Friday night, December 30 and/or Saturday night, December 31. Cost is $25.53 per night. Reserve by calling the park office at 561-845-4445 or 866-383-5730. First come, first served. Campground details and rules may be found on the park website at: http://www.pbcgov.com/parks/peanutisland/campground.htm All runners and guests may pitch a tent in the grass area next to the race headquarters pavilion, like last year. No minimum stay is required and there is no charge. (We will also erect race canopies, with side curtains, for runners who are not bringing a tent, to store gear or take a nap.) A third option, if the tide is not too high, is to camp on the sand beach on the west side of the island. While there is no cost to do this, you must register at the park office upon arrival on the island if camping on the beach. Important note: the race will provide free boat transportation on Saturday, December 31, and Sunday, January 1, to and from the island. We cannot guaranty race transport on Friday (or any other day) should you arrive early. Call Captain Joe’s Water Taxi at Riviera Beach Marina, 561-339-2504, or Sailfish Marina Resort, 800-446-4577 on Singer Island, for prices and times of departure, and make your own arrangements, please. Should you be reaching Peanut Island in your own boat and launching from Phil Foster Park, you will need a Palm Beach County “North County” parking permit to leave vehicle and trailer overnight. Call the county or Peanut Island Park office for further information.
